Yes, still ‘Happy Shopping’ !

It’s the Chinese New Year – and this year it’s for the sheep (or goat)!

Today, and over the next three to fifteen days, you will need to consider a move away from Chinese take-aways as many restaurants will be shut so they can spend time with their families, because Chinese New Year is the longest and most important holiday in the Chinese calendar. The Chinese New Year day is the new moon day of the first lunar month of the month following the Winter Solstice – confused?

And … not just 12 signs, but there are a combination of 60 factors to determine your character and fortune! There are 12 animals – rat, cow, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, chicken, dog, pig; plus five elements – metal, water, wood, fire and earth; and those five elements are connected to colours, which are white, black, green, red and brown. I was born in the year of the rat – and am a white metal rat, you can find out your chinese character here

There will be lots of fireworks! Have a look and listen to a Chinese New Year song – love the goat!
