Happy Valentines!
Ystävänpäivä*

For loved ones, or friends* (thats how the Finns celebrate the day), Valentines day is now a major event in our calendar year, with (are you sitting down) a BILLION cards being exchanged, and in the U.S.,$1 billion worth of chocolate and 189 million stems of roses bought!

There a few theories about its origin, but the most popular is that Emperor Claudius II didn’t want Roman men to marry during wartime (yes, that long ago). Bishop Valentine went against his wishes and performed secret weddings. The original secret Valentine!

Take heart – every day, your heart creates enough energy to drive a lorry 20 miles. In a lifetime, that is equivalent to driving to the moon and back. A nice thought to share with the people you spend your time with.

To get you in the mood for the big day, listen to one of my most favourite tunes ‘Love Cats’ by one of my most favourite bands, The Cure.

*Finnish for ‘Friends Day’ – how nice is that!
